Triform Camphill Community

This fall we received a gift of 5 pairs of snow shoes.  We’ve been waiting for snow and it finally came (in abundance).   After lunch today, we strapped them on with ease and began our first walk.  The walk started out a little tricky as we traversed a steep hill.

Triform participated as a vendor in this year's Basilica Farm and Flea market on Thanksgiving weekend. Basilica market is considered as an alternative to Black Friday shopping as well as a late fall bookend to Basilica Farm & Flea Spring Market which premiered earlier this year. Both markets seek to promote the talents and resources within the Hudson Valley. Last year’s Holiday Market drew 12,000 visitors over the course of the weekend. Set against the beautiful and industrial building of the Basilica’s 1880’s re-purposed factory, this is the only market of its kind in the region.

William Turits is Moving On  Article by Meg Henderson William William Turits has been a long-time member of Camphill communities graduating first from Beaver Run, then Beaver Farm in Pennsylvania where he started when he was 12 years old. He has been in Triform for three years and has had three happy, fulfilling years where he made many friends and endeared himself to everyone. During his trial visit, William lived in Halcyon house with Akiko and Takeshi and had a great time talking to everyone. William loved to walk between the houses, doing errands and taking messages in that first icy January (as well as participating in all the scheduled activities!) The following Fall William moved into Woodland house with Maggie as a householder.

On Ascension Day, May 5th, we gathered in Falcon Hall for a special festival celebration before the morning work. We sang songs, told stories and listened to Sabine introduce the Ascension Festival. Some of us went home to prepare picnics while others went to their regular work on the farm or in the garden. Each house then drove out to Olana, a beautiful scenic spot above the Hudson River where we had our community picnic. It's tradition on Ascension Day to climb to a high spot and take in the view. We watched Reid launch a hot air balloon, a symbolic rise. 

You Must Be... by Noah Levinson P. Wilson                 The resemblance was so striking that the cliche left my mouth almost automatically: “You must be Pierre’s brother.” He was. Light brown and reddish hair, a ruddy complexion, some ineffable quality in the eyes and lips—it was just short of eerie, like seeing some alternate-universe version of Pierre himself.              Pierre, who has Down syndrome, is in his late thirties, well into his second decade at Triform. He is easily one of the most popular figures in the community, winning many hearts with a combination of charm and calculated mischief, without the benefit of very much language ability. Pierre is just great. Nearly everyone who works with him falls in love. 

Family and Friends gathering  October 24 th 2015 Families visiting for Friends and family This year we invited friends and family to come a little later in the month for a fun, activity filled day. We hosted an intimate dinner and had productive conversation in the conference room on Friday night for the Journeymen families. During this, the Journeymen themselves went out for an enjoyable meal at a diner, which a generous person in the restaurant paid for! 

Harvest 2015  Every year the gardens at Triform provide.  This year it was a good growing season supported by an enthusiastic garden crew. We are very fortunate to have productive land and the knowledgeable and hardworking crew to sow, tend and harvest the bounty.  In this intentional community, we strive to provide much of what we need for everyday life: milk from the dairy cows; vegetables from the garden; dishes made in our pottery studio; all things we do not take for granted and for which we give thanks.
