On Ascension Day, May 5th, we gathered in Falcon Hall for a special festival celebration before the morning work. We sang songs, told stories and listened to Sabine introduce the Ascension Festival. Some of us went home to prepare picnics while others went to their regular work on the farm or in the garden.
Each house then drove out to Olana, a beautiful scenic spot above the Hudson River where we had our community picnic. It's tradition on Ascension Day to climb to a high spot and take in the view. We watched Reid launch a hot air balloon, a symbolic rise.
After the walk up the hill and down again, people went home for a quiet evening together with their house community. It was a beautiful, peaceful day.
